Foxy 50's Art Playground...

...well ya know what, it really is! You're prolly thinkin'...."what the heck is she talking about?" I'm talkin' about the Sunday morning workshops that I teach once a month. Well it goes until 4 in the afternoon, but still, it's a lot of fun. It's simple really, a lot of toys are set out and we play! Sure I plan and set a theme, but the women bring their creativity, ideas, questions, stories, humor, and some bad ass chocolate to set in the middle of the table to nibble on (thanx Helene).

It's where we come together to have a good time and share. It is amazing to see the interpretation of the art that flows within each class. There may be six of us at one class and the next class, only two or three. But we still have fun none the less. This past Sunday was no exception. Jannie and Helene are two regulars at the playground and Sara came over to play with us for the first time. It was scorching hot outdoors (compared to the last workshop where it rained all day). But there were ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) to be made. Oh yeah! It was on!

I had lots of tips and techniques, and demos to share. To name just a few...we played with liquid watercolors and baby wipes to make backgrounds. That was a bit messy, and fun. Crayons to make secret pictures, only to be revealed when
inks were applied. Secret Agent #24 checking in…..dun, dun, dun, dun-dunna. Broke open the lemon juice and aged some book pages. Thank the gods that we don’t age that fast. Phew! Pulled out the pasta machine, and no, we didn’t make pasta but we did crank out a few Paisley and Textile embossed paper samples. We also played with different kinds of papers, embellishments, ribbons and other neat toys….oh and the chocolate....yum. There was even a giveaway of some ATC goodies!

She's focused and on a mission.
Chocolate, what chocolate?

Hey, I think I found somethin'

In search of the right papers for her cards

Jannie's finished works

Helene's finished work

Sara's finished works

It's all quiet again, waiting for next time

There is such an enjoyment that I get when others are creating and having a good time with what they're doing. There are no restrictions with ones’ creativity in these workshops. It’s an open experience to give one the opportunity to express their art. I have made new art friends since starting these workshops and I’m glad that I have them. When ya know that ya got somethin’ that feels right, ya keep goin’. Life is good.

It's impossible to describe Deb's fabulous workshops. I enter total Zone of the Creative Madwoman and have so much fun just spending time with friends. Deb provides such a safe and inspiring environment. We go to town! Thank you Ms. D. once again!

Your workspace is so neat and tidy! My workspace is another story altogether. I need to clean it up though because I have been feeling the promptings to allow others in and let them be free to create. :o)
